Daniel Perales was working at the U-Totem Icehouse at 4802 Thousand Oaks Dr. He was behind the counter when unknown suspects entered the store and fired once at him, striking him in the chest. The suspects left with money taken from the register. When police arrived they found the victim lying on the floor behind the counter, deceased. The victim had recently been discharged from the US Army and was working two jobs to support his family.
One male possibly involved or a witness to the incident has been identified as "Billy Lopez" and was 17 at the time of the murder.

1976 DANIEL PERALES CASO 76/028675 28 de enero de 1976 Fuente: Departamento de Policía de San Antonio Daniel Perales estaba trabajando en U-Totem Icehouse en 4802 Thousand Oaks Dr. Estaba detrás del mostrador cuando sospechosos desconocidos entraron a la tienda y le dispararon una vez, golpeándolo en el pecho. Los sospechosos se fueron con dinero sustraído de la caja registradora. Cuando llegó la policía encontraron a la víctima tendida en el piso detrás del mostrador, fallecida. La víctima había sido dada de baja recientemente del ejército de los EE. UU. y tenía dos trabajos para mantener a su familiar.
Un hombre posiblemente involucrado o testigo del incidente ha sido identificado como "Billy López" y tenía 17 años en el momento del asesinato. Slaying of Army vet in 1976 remains unsolved.

Nicole Perez Published: January 17, 2017 at 11:02 AM Daniel Perales was killed while working at U-Totem Icehouse SAN ANTONIO – It's been more than 40 years since an Army veteran was slain during a robbery. San Antonio police have released the name of a man who either may have been involved in or witnessed the crime. Daniel Perales was working by himself in the U-Totem Icehouse in the 4800 block of Thousand Oaks Drive on Jan. 28, 1976. Police said unknown suspects walked in and shot him one time, then left with $107. By the time officers arrived at the business, Perales was dead on the floor behind the counter. Police said Perales had recently been discharged from the U.S. Army. He was working two jobs to support his family. "One male possibly involved or a witness to the incident has been identified as 'Billy Lopez' and was 17 at the time of the murder," police said.
